    Nembutal Rocks

     Nembutal Rocks

    We step off the brink
    Put on a stoic face
Bring all the things we think
    That we can’t replace.
    So many heartfelt knocks
    An open door to all
But no one cares at all
So we name the town Nembutal Rocks.

    Caught the commuter train
    Married the one next door
There’s a lot of time down the drain
Nothin’ that hasn’t been done before.
    Just outside the box
Statue of It Could Be stands tall
But no one cares at all
    This is downtown Nembutal Rocks.

The sweetest soul who could be
Out near Route Two Two Four
Move along there’s nothing to see
Take a step and you’re out the door.
    A dream and a paradox
“If thou wilt not, befall what may befall”
Christ, no one cares at all
    This is goddamned Nembutal Rocks.

    Sally Ann Can

    Five dollar joint
    No need to holler
    Sally Ann is gonna smoke
      that whole five dollar.
    Sally Ann, man
    Because she can.

    Flamboyant port
    No wine too exotic
    Try to find the bottle
    Sally Ann done got it.
    Sally Ann
    Because she can
    Oh man.

    Yeesh biblioten doten
    Bodote ska deetan daten.

    Thousand dollar coat
    Shoes she don’t walk in
Sally Ann can smoke you out
    And not stop talkin’.
    Sally Ann
    Because she can, man.

    Ten Grand of coke
    Little artisanal water
    Sally Ann is faster than
       her own grown  daughter.
    Sally Ann
    Yes she can
    Oh man.

    Yeesh biblioten doten
    Bodote ska deetan daten.

    Manalapan Road

    Manalapan Road

    Living cheaper than one
    Some time ago
    Between two Main Streets
    On Manalapan Road.
    You were working with archetypes
    Hey Hosanna
    I was interpreting
    The lower arcana.

There’s a history of war you know
    So we’ve been told
There’s The War of Independence, baby
    Right down this road.
    Fire behaving as air
    Lambs to the slaughter
Lead us to thy peaceful shore
    Earth behaving as water.

    Living quicker than some
    Briefly fate forebode
    Between two Main Streets
    On Manalapan Road
    You were working with archetypes
    Hey Hosanna
    I was interpreting
    The lower arcana.

    Fainting in Famous Places

    Fainting In Famous Places

The lovely walk to Milford Sound
    I fainted there
    Route 66 westward bound
    I fainted there
    Fainted in famous places everywhere.

    Green Heart of Europe Park
    I fainted there
Day Dream Island in the dark
    I fainted there
    Fainted in famous places everywhere.

    The Valley of the Butterflies
    I fainted there
    And Brussels under cloudy skies
    I fainted there
    Fainted in famous places
    Fainted in famous places
    Fainted in famous places everywhere.

    Bow Tie Boyfriend

    Bow Tie Boyfriend

    There’s a place in Hell
for a certain kind of hair gel
    well there should be
    hey why lie?
And a shelf as well as
a no man’s land around it
for the sleazy so called bow tie.

    Madam I’m Adam
    said Adam to Eve
the snake has suggested this tie
    for your guy.
    Adam, said Eve
    one question please
what kind of guy would wear that kind of tie?

    What kind of guy
would wear that kind of tie?
    What kind of guy
    would wear that…

    Cleopatra and Antony
    back from their date
the night on the Nile did not satisfy
    Tony’s romantic
    but she cannot deny
there’s no romance in that cheesy bow tie.

    There’s a place in Hell
for a certain kind of hair gel
    well there should be
    hey why lie?
And a shelf as well as
a no man’s land around it
for the sleazy so called bow tie.

And a shelf as well as
a no man’s land around it
    for the sleazy so called…

Christ Held by Half Naked Men

Christ Held By Half Naked Men

    Remember we were modern when
    Marsden Hartley paused and then
painted Christ Held By Half Naked Men.

I said it before and I meant it
    Three dimensional form
I love the way you represent it.

    Playful use of decoration
    Spatial drama
    Historical quotation.

    Remember we were modern when
    Marsden Hartley paused and then
painted Christ Held By Half Naked Men.

I said it before and I meant it
    Three dimensional form
I love the way you represent it.

    Far reaching transformation
    Breaking down conventional
    Formulas of representation.

    Aligned Ritual Shrine
    • Aligned Ritual Shrine

      So like this for instance
      We were doing fine
      We were digging Cincinnati
      Near the Hamilton County Line
      After surveying
      And some overtime excavating
      We were digging up another
      Aligned ritual shrine.

      To err is human
      To forgive divine
      Forgive me if I’m wrong
But this is obviously by design
      Stellar positioning
      Relations to other disciplines
      We’re looking at another
      Aligned ritual shrine.

      The standing wave
      How we intertwine
      Picture us digging Cincinnati
      Near the Hamilton County Line
      After surveying
      And some overtime excavating
You’re looking at another aligned ritual
      At another aligned ritual shrine.

    Geneva-on-the-Lake Riot July 4, 1965

    Geneva-On-The-Lake Riot July 4, 1965

It was really started by the college kids
that got out of hand outside The Cove,
    with their “greenest ivy overgrown
and tufted with an ivy grove.”

    The riot at Geneva-On-The-Lake
    Ohio Nineteen Sixty Five
    was a mob
    and the law
    and a white picket fence
    on the fourth of July.

    Deriving from the Latin mobilis
this mob was a disorderly crowd
and the law in this case
    functioned as plural
before they were done damn it got loud.

    The riot at Geneva-On-The-Lake
    Ohio Nineteen Sixty Five
    was a mob
    and the law
    and a white picket fence
    on the fourth of July.

    Notwithstanding Mr. Wilson,
    the fence has been popular
    since the early colonial era.
Noisy but blown out of proportion.
That’s what the locals will tell ya.

    The riot at Geneva-On-The-Lake
    Ohio Nineteen Sixty Five
    was a mob
    and the law
    and a white picket fence
    on the fourth of July.

Did Not Know I Was Gone to Reno

Did Not Know I Was Gone To Reno

    I was gone to Reno
until I knew I did not know
    did not know
    I was gone to Reno.

    California Ave meets Mayberry Drive
    parallel universe to Reno High
Play guitar at the coffee house
    Regular guy.
    Every inherent possibility
    in the quantum wavefunction reality
    is possible
    so it is possible.

    I was gone to Reno
until I knew I did not know
    did not know
    I was gone to Reno.

    There’s the Time hypothesis
    and what is it?
Because it doesn’t seem to exist.
    We’re In the same place
    at the same time
but our times are not the same times.
    What does one know
    when one does not know?
    Now I know
    I did not know.
I know I did not know.

    I was gone to Reno
until I knew I did not know
    did not know
    I was gone to Reno.

    Verisimilitude Blues

    Verisimilitude Blues

Oh I have  tried to evolve
    from mimesis into verisimilitude.
    I have been reviewed,
    interviewed and misconstrued.
    I have tried to evolve
    into verisimilitude.

    Y’all I’ve tried to evolve
    from mimesis into verisimilitude.
    I have been reviewed,
    interviewed and misconstrued.
Yes I have tried to evolve
    into verisimilitude.

    The Birthplace of Saint Dymphna

     The Birthplace Of Saint Dymphna

    From where do you come?
    The birthplace of Saint Dymphna
    I figure I’m here now
    to address the lacuna
    wondrous as it is
    I wonder
    our father, glory be
    one bad mother.

I was off on a journey
And was the stranger come to town
    the image I requested
    was unavailable or
    nowhere around
    I’ll tell you one thing
    everywhere I go
    somebody always knows something
    I don’t know.

    How do we redo
    things we don’t remember?
    Make do and mend
    and thank you
    because some shit lasts forever
    wondrous as it is
    I wonder
    our father, glory be
    one bad mother.
